How often does the pipeline break mysteriously and how much finger-pointing, headache, and time it take to come back? Do you know when it breaks or is running behind? How do you even hold the vendor to the SLA of uptime and latency? As our customers manage 100s of sites in their portfolio, they need peace-of-mind, visibility, and confidence – provided by our transparent and comprehensive tracking (WIP) Quadrical Data Requirement Checklist 2025 (C&I).xlsx
What good is changing the way you manage your assets – if it is going to take 9 months to show any value?
You’ve already spent months deciding that the current way you manage your assets is not working. Then more time listening to pitches deciding what is best. However, one of the questions which get missed is – how soon until we see value?
Faster onboarding = faster time-to-value.
If it is going to take 9 months as team has a slow onboarding process you need to know. If its going to take 7 months because the vendor has a 60GW backlog to onboard, well you need to know.
Just like you do for everything else you buy, delivery time is crucial.
By the time a company decides that their current method of managing their assets is not working to the time change actually happens usually takes – give or take – one year.
- Time to decide what’s not working?
- Is there anything better out there?
- Time to persuade management.
- When on the calendar which is booked out is there actually time to make the switch?
Change yes ok, but to what? There’s multiple vendors all saying similiar’ish things. Then who? Why them? What questions should you ask?
One major one along with how much it will cost is “how long exactly will the process of onboarding my portfolio take?”
That will tell you how soon you can expect to see value from your investment. To make it completely transparent here’s our take on how soon we can get to work for you.
Making onboarding as painless as possible for your team is our goal at Quadrical. We provide your team with an easy-to-use checklist. Kind of like pilots. Or surgeons. We estimate it should take about 4-5 people hours for a utility scale plant.
Generally you have your As-Designed and As-Built documents from your EPC. Just share them with us and we can begin. Our team holds your hand throughout by being available to you with a dedicated project manager. Just dump your As-Built information in a file – we take care of the rest – SCADA mapping, validation checks, API set up following clear security protocols, compliances and validations every step of the way, using both automated pipelines and a specialist onboarding team. This beats you having to figure it out with visual instructions like it is an Ikea table.
Migration checklist – As our founding team all come from software development [Blackberry, Microsoft, Adobe] we’ve built automated systems. However, for you we also provide actual, live humans to work, answer your questions and be fully available to you. Yes every site and every company’s ability data organization and handling capabilities differ - so we can only talk in averages.
We can usually get new utility sites on line in 2 days and delivering monitoring data + actionable insights. This means your SCADA feeds to your first set of automated alerts. During this time, in parallel we are working on historical data onboarding. Our onboarding checklist is here – if you’d like to take a look. All this means even large portfolios can be set up in just a couple of weeks. Our set up includes both the software set up, project management, employee training, hand-holding to ensure everyone can get the most out of their system. Not only just the project managers, but our software experts, data scientists are fully available.
We have over 6.5 GW Solar, 6 GWh of BESS and 200 MW Wind which has successfully migrated onto our platform. These sites range in age from absolutely brand new when we got them to built in 2011 with SCADA which really should be in an old folks home. For those we do have our own Historian to be able to fetch that data which would otherwise be lost to history. From 400 KW to 124 MW Solar. We even have a 300 MW / 1.2 GWh Storage site on our platform – which is another way of saying we know how to handle giant heaps of data effectively and efficiently. Average time for 100’ish MW Solar plant – 2 days. We even migrated 1400 C&I in 40 days – where our team would have say the data was not pleasant surprise of organization. No worries though, our team is not afraid to roll up our sleeves and get to work.
5-Proven Phases of a Successful Set-Up
- Bringing in Historical Data in parallel
- Technical Integration [connection] of RealTime data via API’s.
- Team Training – Asset Managers, O&M’s, Site Teams
- Setting up workflows & Dashboards
- Final checks, testing and validation before handover which we call Go-Live.
